WSU Pullman's sculpture program cultivates an adaptive learning space that equally values cultural, technical, and conceptual aspects. This specialization is open to students pursuing either BA or BFA degrees.
You'll be inspired to cultivate your unique artistic vision while blending technical and material experiments with spatial theory, exploring both pedestal-based and alternative presentations.
Within over 9,000 square feet of workshop facilities, you'll utilize a fully-stocked wood shop, metal fabrication area, our dedicated bot cave, plus specialized spaces for textiles, wax work, slurry processes, and additional techniques.
Your curriculum will cover conventional methods like bronze casting and mold creation alongside contemporary approaches such as environmental installations and unconventional materials. Past students have pursued projects involving digital media, cross-disciplinary partnerships, and live art performances.
You'll work in a dynamic setting that equally prioritizes cultural context, technical skill, and conceptual depth, with strong emphasis on personal artistic growth and stylistic evolution.
Both degree paths provide courses and practical experiences that push you to conceptualize and express ideas through inventive, cross-disciplinary approaches. Through continuous experimentation and critical analysis, you'll refine your artistic identity while gaining the assurance and abilities to communicate effectively across diverse contexts.
The BA in Art degree offers adaptable options for interdisciplinary study within a comprehensive liberal arts framework.
