The Neuroscience Program at Wake Forest brings together faculty and students in a dynamic, cooperative environment to study everything from molecular and cellular components to neural networks, brain regions, and behavior, deepening our knowledge of the nervous system's functional architecture. We firmly believe neuroscience offers essential insights into behavior's biological roots and the origins of neurological and mental health conditions.
Since 1991, Wake Forest University has incorporated Neuroscience PhD training into its graduate programs. Our Neuroscience training initiative aims to equip students with:
Comprehensive knowledge spanning all organizational levels of the nervous system, from genetic and molecular foundations to system-wide functions and behavior,
Practical skills in experimental planning, data analysis, statistical approaches, and quantitative techniques,
Direct involvement in cutting-edge laboratories conducting impactful research across contemporary neuroscience fields, and An understanding of how fundamental discoveries in neuroscience lead to clinical applications for neurobehavioral disorders
