Chemistry offers insights into the natural and physical world we inhabit. Understanding chemistry is crucial for exploring diverse disciplines, from cellular biology to advanced materials. Our team of 33 faculty and staff delivers vibrant learning experiences to 70 undergraduate majors, 205 minors, and 32 graduate students, extending education beyond lectures into research labs and community engagement. Teaching and research take place in the newly upgraded Salem Hall on Reynolda Campus and at Wake Downtown in the Innovation Quarter.
Our department aims to equip students with analytical skills and chemical expertise to tackle scientific and technological problems. Aligned with the university's teacher-scholar approach, faculty pursue globally recognized research while involving students in scientific exploration. We aspire to lead in undergraduate and graduate education through a cutting-edge interdisciplinary curriculum and innovative opportunities that transcend conventional chemistry boundaries, both in academic settings and research facilities.
