The Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology department consists of faculty and students focused on exploring biological systems at molecular and cellular scales. Our laboratories employ diverse model organisms spanning bacteria, plants, fungi, and animals, providing ample thesis research opportunities.
Faculty in our cell and molecular specialization prioritize personalized, experiential learning, with graduate seminars typically limited to under 10 participants.
A key interdisciplinary research focus is Molecular Signaling, bridging Biology with other WFU disciplines. With courses in biochemistry, molecular biology, and cell physiology offered by our faculty, students can tailor their academic path. Further advanced coursework is accessible through Wake Forest's medical center, and students may pursue an interdisciplinary specialization in Structural and Computational Biophysics.
