Our program provides Master of Science and Doctoral degrees in Fisheries and Wildlife Sciences, allowing students to focus specifically on Fisheries or Wildlife Science. The curriculum is customized based on each student's interests and professional goals, developed in collaboration with their graduate advisory committee. The Department of Fish and Wildlife Conservation maintains one of the premier programs in this field, featuring an extensive curriculum that addresses fisheries and wildlife biology, ecological studies, habitat assessment, and the social aspects of natural resource management. Faculty expertise spans diverse areas including conservation of endangered species, freshwater stream ecosystems, marine fisheries preservation, genetic conservation, tropical ecology, sustainable aquaculture systems, wildlife physiology and environmental toxicology, human-wildlife relationships (including disease ecology), habitat evaluation and stewardship, geospatial technologies, social science applications, policy development, and administrative leadership. The Master's program emphasizes career readiness for roles in governmental agencies, private sector organizations dealing with fisheries and wildlife, as well as preparation for advanced doctoral studies. The PhD program focuses on developing research capabilities and leadership skills for positions in government research institutions and academic faculty roles.
