This is an exciting era for cancer research, with breakthroughs in molecular biology and genomics—including the deciphering of various cancer genomes and the discovery of critical molecular mechanisms—deepening our knowledge of cancer cells and paving the way for innovative treatments and diagnostics. Students pursuing the cancer specialization will engage in research aimed at fighting this disease. The curriculum adopts a comprehensive, translational perspective on all facets of cancer, covering its molecular foundations (such as genetics, stem cells, metastasis, and immune responses) to broader aspects like the tumor microenvironment, cutting-edge diagnostic and therapeutic approaches (including biomarkers, drug development, and precision medicine), as well as its societal, emotional, and financial impacts.
