The theater arts program offers an extensive education in theatrical studies while maintaining a well-rounded liberal arts curriculum. Accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre, the program focuses on theoretical knowledge, historical context, and hands-on practice.
Students gain fundamental training in dramatic literature, theater and film history, playwriting, and stagecraft. Upper-level classes cover acting techniques, set and costume design, lighting, theatrical production, as well as film studies and production.
Each year, the department stages 12 to 18 theatrical productions under the guidance of working artist-educators. All university students can participate in productions through open auditions and technical crew opportunities.
