The M.Ed. in Educational Leadership's administration and supervision track is a 33-credit program designed to develop thoughtful school leaders. Candidates need to hold a current renewable teaching license and should have a minimum of two years' classroom experience in a licensed instructional role within Virginia schools. The program concludes with a comprehensive assessment. Participants must demonstrate proficiency in Virginia Board of Education-approved technology standards and provide documentation of completed child abuse recognition training. Graduates qualify for K-12 administrator/supervisor certification.
In addition to the general admission requirements of the VCU Graduate School, the following requirements represent the minimum acceptable standards for admission:
Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline
Two letters of recommendation addressing the student’s potential for graduate study in education
Statement of intent
Transcripts of all previous college work
At least two years of experience in a school setting in an instructional personnel position that requires licensure in Virginia
