The Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction program equips educators with advanced knowledge in teaching methodologies, curriculum development, educational philosophies, learning theories, and approaches for diverse student populations. Students work closely with advisors to choose specialized concentration courses. Offered through online delivery, this program enables educators to implement innovative techniques in modern classrooms, including restorative approaches, digital tools, and specialized support for English language learners and students with special needs. The adaptable, interdisciplinary structure combines foundational curriculum studies with 12 elective credits, allowing professionals to tailor their learning to address evolving challenges in their career fields and local communities.
In addition to the general admission requirements of the VCU Graduate School, the following requirements represent the minimum acceptable standards for admission:
Bachelor’s degree
Three letters of recommendation addressing the student’s potential for graduate study in education
Statement of intent
Transcripts of all previous college work
