Earth and environmental sciences explore our planet's evolving story - examining how Earth functions and preserves its beginnings and timeline within rock formations and terrain, while also studying how geological forces impact current ecosystems and surroundings. As a cornerstone of interdisciplinary natural sciences, this field offers crucial insights into how Earth's physical and chemical frameworks both support and endanger life, while shaping humanity's relationship with the planet.
Students majoring in Earth and Environmental Sciences first develop comprehensive knowledge of planetary systems before focusing on specialties like Solid Earth studies, Surface Processes, or Environmental Science. Over 50% collaborate with professors on research projects, including potential fieldwork opportunities across all continents. Graduates frequently pursue careers in energy sectors, environmental conservation, urban planning, and legal fields related to earth sciences.
