Our graduates boast impressive publication histories and have received multiple awards from prestigious national institutions. Applicants with experience in computational or biological sciences are particularly encouraged to apply. Financial support options consist of our National Library of Medicine Biomedical Informatics Training Grant, postdoctoral research fellowships, and the VA Post Doctoral Fellowship in Medical Informatics & Quality Improvement.
Most students enrolling in our MS and PhD programs come from healthcare backgrounds (such as MD, DO, RN, DDS, or advanced degrees in health-related fields like psychology or biostatistics) or have training in computer science, engineering, biology, or mathematics. Upon completing their degrees, alumni typically enter careers as dedicated academic researchers, clinician-researchers, industry science leaders, corporate research scientists, healthcare IT specialists, or independent consultants and entrepreneurs.
