The history department accepts a select group of outstanding students into a 41 program that enables Vanderbilt undergraduates to earn both their B.A. and M.A. degrees within five consecutive years. While most students pursue both degrees within the same department, applicants from other disciplines may qualify for the history M.A. program.

Prospective candidates for the 41 program should meet with their advisor at the earliest opportunity and submit their official application to the department before completing their junior year.
