Electrical engineers specialize in electronics, electricity, and electromagnetism, focusing on electronic devices. This field spans numerous applications such as power generation and distribution, transportation systems (automobiles and aircraft), communication technologies (radio, television, wireless networks, telephones), robotics, computing (memory systems, displays, microprocessors), defense systems (navigation, radar, secure communications), and consumer electronics (DVD and MP3 players). Electrical engineering shares a technical foundation with computer engineering but is broader, incorporating additional knowledge in electronics, controls, electromagnetics, and signal processing. In contrast, computer engineering concentrates more on computers and software, covering computer architecture, networking, operating systems, and algorithms. The electrical engineering program is accredited by the EAC Accreditation Commission of ABET.
