Biochemistry explores the molecular foundations of life, examining the chemical processes within living organisms. The major's core curriculum covers general, organic, and biological chemistry, along with biology, calculus, physics, and hands-on lab work. Students can select between two physics tracks: Life Sciences: Ideal for those leaning toward biological studies. Science-Engineering: Better suited for students with mathematical/physical strengths. At USU, chemistry majors can engage in research early in their academic journey, starting as lab assistants and progressing to independent projects. Distinctively, numerous undergraduates in the department achieve published research, providing a competitive edge for graduate school applications. The College of Science boasts exceptional faculty, including three Carnegie Professors honored for their excellence in undergraduate education, chosen from institutions across the country.
