A Plan A degree is a conventional research-focused Master's program where students must design, execute, and defend an original research project through a written thesis.
Plan A Credit Requirements (minimum 30 hours - all at 4000 level or above)
At least 16 Course Hours in Electrical and Computer Engineering Courses
Minimum 3 Course Hours in Formal Courses outside the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department
7 Additional Formal Course Hours (either within or outside the department)
4 credits dedicated to MS thesis research
Maximum of 12 credit hours at the 4000 level permitted
No more than 3 credit hours for independent study allowed
Students must submit their Plan A thesis to the committee and publicize their defense two weeks in advance. Additionally, a research poster must be created and approved by the student's advisor before the department head will sign the Graduation/Title Form.
