The Master of Public Administration (MPA) is a professional graduate degree designed for aspiring leaders in public service. This program equips students with the knowledge and tools to create and execute policies, initiatives, and programs that deliver essential services and tackle pressing social challenges, while managing organizational operations. Graduates are prepared for managerial and leadership roles across government and nonprofit organizations at various levels, with a focus on cultivating ethical and efficient organizational management.
The University of Wyoming's MPA Program caters to both working professionals in public service and students beginning their careers in this field. Many participants currently work or have experience in public or nonprofit organizations, creating a rich environment for pre-career students to learn, receive mentorship, and enhance future job prospects.
The 39-credit MPA curriculum includes 24 credits of foundational courses and 15 credits of electives. Core classes build essential administrative, managerial, financial, and analytical competencies applicable across sectors, while electives allow specialization to support professional goals. Pre-service students must complete a public sector internship (which can be substituted with an additional elective if approved). The program can be finished in 2 years of full-time study or 3-4 years part-time.
