Soil Science explores how soils form, their distribution patterns, ecological roles, and sustainable use. As a key natural resources hub, Wyoming faces numerous challenges related to energy production, mining operations, and wilderness conservation. This creates numerous compelling soil research opportunities with wide-reaching economic and social consequences.
Our graduates typically find employment with federal conservation and land management agencies (such as the Forest Service, BLM, or NRCS), environmental regulation bodies (including Wyoming's DEQ), energy and mineral extraction firms, ecological consulting groups, or scientific research institutions.
