Our Secondary Education program readies you for classroom instruction in grades 6-12, qualifying you for teaching certification in your selected discipline. Those with existing bachelor's degrees can accelerate their teaching journey through our Teaching Secondary Content graduate certificate program.
Through pedagogical training and hands-on practice, you'll master contemporary teaching methods for adolescent learners while developing strong classroom leadership skills. You'll deepen your expertise by pursuing a dual major through coursework in UW's Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Agriculture and Natural Resources, or Engineering and Applied Science.
From your first year, you'll gain substantial classroom experience, refining your teaching techniques. Your preparation peaks with a student teaching placement under the guidance of an experienced mentor in your field. Graduates emerge fully qualified to teach both in Wyoming and nationwide.
