The Drawing program equips students with core observational abilities by exploring the descriptive and expressive capabilities of diverse drawing materials. Foundational courses build the technical and conceptual knowledge needed to excel across visual art mediums. Drawing serves as both a fundamental tool for visual problem-solving and an independent art form. Early coursework focuses on enhancing proficiency in proportion, value, shape, line, creating depth and volume illusions, and composition through still life, portraiture, interiors, and landscapes. Figure drawing encompasses both precise anatomical studies and creative personal expressions of the human body. Advanced courses enable students to expand their drawing practice by experimenting with scale, mixed media, conceptual approaches, and innovative interdisciplinary methods.
