This undergraduate program prepares students for initial teaching certification in secondary Family and Consumer Sciences for grades 6-12. The curriculum requires completion of at least 120 credit hours. Students must maintain a minimum 2.500 GPA in content courses and a 2.75 cumulative GPA for upper-level education courses, including EDSE 4500 Residency in Teaching. All major coursework requires a grade of C or higher to pass.
Before beginning any field experiences or practicums, students must undergo an initial background screening. The cost of this check is included in student fees - consult your College of Education advisor for specific instructions.
The B.A.S. degree includes specialized CTE coursework that students can transfer or complete through either the Laramie main campus or UW Casper when offered. Professional education requirements may be fulfilled alongside or after completing CTE content. Academic advising is available through both the main College of Education campus and UW Casper locations.
