The Master's program in African and African Diaspora Studies (AADS) is a two-year interdisciplinary graduate degree designed to equip students with robust theoretical foundations, research methodology training, and the ability to evaluate multidisciplinary analytical approaches within the AADS field. Participants can focus on diverse specialization areas encompassing Africa and its global diaspora, spanning topics like economic growth, racial/ethnic studies, historical perspectives, governance strategies, cultural expressions, gender studies, and beyond. This AADS MA serves as both a terminal professional degree for careers in public sector, corporate, and non-profit environments, or as a stepping stone toward doctoral studies.
Alumni of African and African Diaspora Studies programs are well-positioned for professional growth in education, civil service, policy formulation, organizational leadership, community services, and various NGO sectors. The program prepares graduates to foster workplace diversity awareness, craft targeted public policies, tackle challenges facing African-descended communities, and deliver educational and vocational advancement initiatives within these populations.
