The UWM Clinical Psychology program is deeply committed to the scientist-practitioner training approach. We view the scientist-practitioner not as two distinct roles combined, but as a unified professional who applies research insights to clinical work while maintaining the ability to conduct research both within and outside clinical settings.

Our program belongs to The Academy of Psychological Clinical Science, an alliance of doctoral programs dedicated to generating and utilizing scientific knowledge for addressing human challenges. Academy membership, awarded through rigorous peer evaluation, demonstrates our program's dedication to top-tier scientific education and evidence-based clinical methods. Additionally, we participate in the Clinical Child and Pediatric Psychology Training Council. For neuropsychology training, we adhere to Division 40 Clinical Neuropsychology standards and Houston conference recommendations.
