Qualification Requirements
Applicant must meet Graduate School requirements plus departmental requirements as given for admission to the master's program. A master's degree is not a prerequisite for this PhD program.

Statement of Purpose
GRE scores (arrange to have them sent from ETS UWM's university code is 1473, additionally include the code 0808 to send them directly to the Physics Dept.). Both the general GRE exam and the Physics subject test are recommended but not required by the Physics department. High scores will always benefit an applicant.
Transcripts (English preferred, if possible, for international applications). Official transcripts are always preferred.
English proficiency results (TOEFL), if applicable. Scores should be from within 2 years of application. Additional information about the TOEFL tests is available on the site for International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) through the UW-Milwaukee Center for International Education
Three (3) letters of recommendation. The letters should include relevant information such as how long has the referee have known the applicant, in what capacity, and how they would judge their motivation and abilities to complete a Physics PhD program. The letter must adhere to the following requirements:
It is on official University (or company/organization) letterhead,
It is dated,
It is signed by the referee
You must have attended this institution for at least one year and the degree was earned at an institution in the United States, and you have lived and worked continuously in the U.S since earning the degree. Cambridge English: Advanced / Cambridge English Proficiency C1 level or higher. TOEFL IBT (not Home Edition) - 79 120, IELTS - 6.5 9.0.
