Physics serves as the essential basis for scientific and technological advancement. Numerous undergraduate programs mandate at least one physics course. UWM's physics major offers a diverse curriculum encompassing both classical and quantum physics through various physics and astronomy classes. Along with grasping core physical concepts, students cultivate valuable analytical and modeling abilities that are highly sought after in today's job market.
Annually, approximately 50% of physics graduates nationwide join the workforce while the other half pursue advanced degrees. Private sector employment spans manufacturing and service industries, with roles in R&D, technical support, software development, financial analysis, and sales. Government-employed physics graduates typically engage in research, development, and design work, though many also enlist in military service each year.
