By pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Materials Science & Engineering at UWM, you'll enter a dynamic and evolving academic discipline that is transforming the world in countless ways. Today's materials scientists create and evaluate both composite and basic materials that, for instance, remove contaminants from water, possess self-repairing capabilities, offer extended durability, or are produced with methods that minimize waste sent to landfills.
In our close-knit learning environments, laboratories, and through internships and cooperative programs, you'll integrate principles from chemistry, physics, and engineering to explore how atomic or molecular structures influence materials' large-scale characteristics. Upon graduation, you'll be prepared to implement your expertise in sectors including aerospace, architecture, biomedicine, computing and electronics, construction, metal production, transportation, and leisure industries.
