Below you'll find the necessary criteria for earning a Bachelor of Arts in Geosciences. Alongside major-specific requirements, students must fulfill all university-wide general education mandates as well as the College of Letters & Science's breadth and additional degree specifications. Your specific degree path may differ based on when you began your college education. We strongly recommend consulting with both the Geosciences department advisor and your L&S advisor to maintain proper progress toward graduation. Geoscience professionals examine Earth's history, the forces that mold it, our natural resources, and the relationships between geological formations, water systems, and ecological networks. These scientists are driven by addressing challenges, assisting populations, and uncovering truths about our planet. Their work encompasses minerals, water sources, rock formations, fossil records, soil composition, environmental concerns, pollution cleanup, energy and mineral assets, geological risks, extraterrestrial geology, and other areas. Our curriculum equips students for sought-after positions in environmental and geotechnical organizations, government regulatory bodies, educational institutions, research facilities, energy corporations, scientific institutions, policy development sectors, and various other fields.
