The Biological Sciences program caters to students pursuing careers in healthcare, agriculture, environmental conservation, food production, manufacturing, biotech innovation, and related industries. Undergraduate options include a comprehensive general biology track or focused specializations in cellular/molecular biology or ecological studies. The department also offers a microbiology degree. Students gain practical research experience to strengthen their professional portfolios for employment or advanced studies, with master's and PhD programs available for graduate students.
UWM's biology program equips students with comprehensive knowledge across biological and natural sciences, laying the groundwork for professional success or postgraduate education. The curriculum combines mandatory coursework with hands-on lab/field work in cellular biology, genetics, and ecological systems. Learners undertake independent research initiatives and collaborate with external organizations through internships. Following foundational studies, students select advanced electives in specialized fields like Genetic Engineering, Neuroscience, Evolutionary Ecology, Microbial Science, and Aquatic Biology.
