The Water Resources Management (WRM) program is a multidisciplinary graduate initiative offering a Master of Science (MS) degree focused on water resource management. This program tackles the intricate, cross-disciplinary challenges of water stewardship by enabling students to combine biological and physical sciences (for problem identification and assessment) with engineering (to explore technological solutions) alongside legal studies and social sciences (for evaluating institutional response capabilities). WRM participants acquire comprehensive knowledge in planning and management while specializing in a chosen focus area.

This degree prepares graduates for careers as water resource professionals. Instead of pursuing independent research, WRM students collaborate on group practicum workshops centered on real-world water management challenges. Many students opt to complement their studies by pursuing a concurrent master's degree in a traditional department to enhance their research credentials. Those primarily interested in independent research might explore the Nelson Institute's Environment and Resources program as an alternative option. Note that the WRM program does not provide doctoral degree opportunities.
