The School of Human Ecology maintains a longstanding commitment to community engagement, with numerous faculty holding dedicated extension roles. Every professor dedicates effort to extending their work's impact beyond university walls, embodying the Wisconsin Idea—the principle that the university's influence spans statewide, national, and global boundaries. SoHE's graduate programs reinforce this vision by blending research with practical applications in program development, management, policy creation, and assessment.
Human ecology examines the intricate connections between people and their surroundings. SoHE provides an MS in Human Ecology with two specialized tracks. The Human Ecology track serves as the terminal master's program, while PhD candidates in Human Ecology can earn the MS: Human Ecology Research degree en route to their doctorate by completing required coursework and research milestones.
