The Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences provides one of the nation's most extensive graduate programs in its field. Faculty research spans a wide spectrum, including fundamental biological investigations through both in vivo and in vitro approaches, as well as computational biology and analytical tools for dairy farm operations. These diverse research areas share a unifying goal: solving real-world challenges in animal agriculture.
Our graduate student body includes Wisconsin residents, out-of-state students, and international scholars from various nations. This blend of backgrounds enriches research, teaching, outreach, and cross-cultural exchange. Alumni pursue careers in academia, veterinary/medical schools, food industry research, government and corporate laboratories, as well as scientific leadership roles across multiple sectors.
