Established in 2007, UW-Madison's Agroecology MS program educates students in examining agricultural systems through environmental and socioeconomic lenses. Based in the Department of Plant and Agroecosystem Sciences, the program collaborates with faculty from approximately 20 campus departments.
Each year's incoming class typically includes 8-12 students from varied academic backgrounds. These graduate students conduct specialized research projects spanning multiple academic disciplines while participating in a core curriculum that fosters interdisciplinary analysis of agricultural systems.
The public engagement track prepares professionals to mediate discussions between agriculture and other societal sectors. This practical training aims to develop experts who can enhance comprehension of agriculture's multifaceted roles in landscapes and the policies influencing them.
