Interdisciplinary Theatre Studies (ITS) brings together faculty from across campus who specialize in drama, theatre, and performance studies. This collaborative group provides a multidisciplinary academic path for students pursuing MA, PhD, or doctoral minor degrees. With over twenty faculty members representing numerous departments, ITS enables students to build foundations in theatre history, dramatic literature, and performance theory while fostering original research that reflects the expansive nature of performance studies.

The ITS program equips MA candidates to undertake creative, cross-disciplinary theatre research through academic scholarship, practice-based inquiry, and teaching opportunities. The MA degree can function either as preparation for doctoral studies or as a standalone qualification for those seeking deeper engagement with theatre and performance beyond undergraduate education.

Drawing students from throughout the U.S. and abroad, the program facilitates teaching and practical experiences alongside research. It actively promotes student involvement in professional conferences, academic workshops, and scholarly discussions while supporting creative and research outputs through both performance and publication.
