The Art History Department provides master's and doctoral degree programs. Students benefit from personalized guidance from faculty and access to exceptional resources for cross-disciplinary studies. Our professors are globally recognized experts in their fields, frequently earning distinguished honors, presenting at conferences worldwide, and holding leadership roles in professional organizations. Alumni go on to teach at colleges and universities or build careers in museums, galleries, auction firms, libraries, archives, architectural preservation, and art conservation. We embrace varied methodologies for examining art, architecture, urban spaces, visual culture, and museum practices.
Graduate scholars utilize these resources for academic investigations and publications. Some participate in exhibition development through specialized courses or as research assistants. The department shares its facility with the Kohler Art Library, housing an outstanding collection of art publications and comprehensive journal holdings.
International applicants must have a degree comparable to a regionally accredited U.S. bachelor’s degree.
