showcasing rich cultural traditions that have thrived for millennia.
SDSU's campus thrives within a dynamic community of diverse populations, mirroring the composition of our student body.
The Center for Asian and Pacific Studies (CAPS) serves as an interdisciplinary academic division within the College of Arts and Letters, forming a core component of SDSU's international studies program. Our courses leverage expertise from faculty across disciplines to deliver engaging classes on Asian thought and culture, covering art, communication, film, environmental concerns, history, literature, philosophy, political science, religion, gender studies, and Asian-American narratives. Students are encouraged to explore fresh viewpoints, values, approaches, and lived experiences through focused studies on the Asia Pacific region, examining topics like the cultural foundations of K-pop, anime, modern arts, philosophical teachings from Buddhism, Daoism, Confucianism, Hinduism, Islam, and Shinto, unconventional leadership styles and business ventures, as well as societal structures and interpersonal dynamics.
