The Center for Demography and Ecology (CDE) oversees research initiatives and graduate education in demography and human ecology. Annually, approximately 30 doctoral candidates obtain financial support through the Center. Funding sources include NIH-sponsored traineeships and various research grant-funded assistantships. This educational initiative encompasses rigorous theoretical and methodological instruction in demography and human ecology, hands-on research experience, and focused study for both master's theses and doctoral dissertations. Faculty and students at the Center conduct investigations into diverse population characteristics, spatial patterns, demographic shifts, and methodological approaches in demographic studies.
