The English language and linguistics specialization is designed for learners who possess strong proficiency in English, applied linguistics, and associated disciplines. Doctoral candidates in this specialization qualify for an MA in English upon fulfilling initial PhD requirements, as the program doesn't provide a standalone MA option. Through rigorous coursework and seminars, PhD students develop expertise in fundamental aspects of English syntax and phonology, along with applied domains like second language learning, discourse studies, and linguistic evolution. During the dissertation phase, scholars conduct personalized research under faculty guidance. Recent doctoral projects have explored topics including bilingual code-switching, educational methodologies, conversational skills development, syntactic challenges in language learning, academic discourse, and cognitive language processing. Program alumni have secured teaching positions at universities nationwide.
