The Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences provides one of the nation's most extensive graduate programs in this field. Faculty research spans a wide spectrum, from fundamental biological investigations using both in vivo and in vitro approaches to applying bioinformatics and data analysis for biological research and creating dairy farm management tools. These diverse research areas share a common goal: solving real-world challenges in animal agriculture.
Our graduate student body includes Wisconsin residents, out-of-state students, and international scholars from various nations. This mix fosters global perspectives in research, education, outreach, and cross-cultural exchange. Alumni pursue careers in academia, veterinary/medical schools, food industry research, government/international agency labs, corporate research, and scientific leadership roles across multiple sectors.
International applicants must have a degree comparable to a regionally accredited U.S. bachelor’s degree.
