The doctoral program builds upon a foundation of comprehensive anthropological education at the undergraduate level and specialized expertise at the master's level (refer to Graduate Studies in Anthropology). PhD curricula are highly adaptable, tailored to each student's focus area through collaboration between the candidate and faculty advisors.
Anthropology PhD candidates interested in concentrating on specific disciplines like linguistic anthropology may opt for a dual-degree path. These students' requirements will be established by an interdisciplinary certification committee, comprising faculty from relevant departments, with final approval from the Graduate School.
International applicants must have a degree comparable to a regionally accredited U.S. bachelor’s degree.
