The Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences provides one of the nation's most extensive graduate programs in this field. Faculty research covers a wide spectrum, from fundamental biological investigations using both in vivo and in vitro approaches to applying bioinformatics and data analysis for biological research and creating dairy farm management tools. These diverse research areas share a common goal: solving real-world challenges in animal agriculture.
Our graduate student body includes both Wisconsin residents, out-of-state domestic students, and international scholars from various nations. This blend of backgrounds enriches our research, teaching, outreach, and cultural exchange. Alumni pursue careers in academia, veterinary or medical schools, food and feed industry research, government and international laboratory programs, corporate research, and scientific leadership roles across multiple sectors.
