The Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences provides one of the nation's most extensive graduate programs in this field. Faculty research spans a wide spectrum, from fundamental biological investigations using both in vivo and in vitro approaches to applying bioinformatics and data analysis for biological research and creating dairy farm management tools. These diverse research efforts share a common goal: solving real-world challenges in animal agriculture.
Students can customize their academic path to align with their specific interests, while receiving essential training in relevant scientific disciplines. The program offers nine specialized areas for applicants to consider (details available online). All applicants must meet the Graduate School's basic admission standards, with additional department-specific degree requirements outlined by the program.
The department's graduate student body includes both Wisconsin residents, out-of-state students, and international scholars from various nations.
