Students interested in exploring unique academic interests not addressed by current major offerings can collaborate with advisors and professors to design a personalized course of study. This customized major should incorporate classes from multiple disciplines, maintain academic rigor comparable to standard majors, and focus on a specific intellectual challenge or educational objective identified by the student.
Approval for the individualized major requires review by both a faculty panel and the CALS Curriculum Committee. Early consultation with an assistant dean in the CALS Office of Academic Affairs is highly recommended to understand the requirements, timeline, and practicality of completing such a program during one's undergraduate studies.
