The Environmental Studies program, jointly offered by the College of Letters & Science and overseen by the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies, gives undergraduates distinctive opportunities to expand their learning through cross-disciplinary environmental courses. Students must pair this major with another discipline - a distinctive feature that enables them to both widen and intensify their primary field of study with comprehensive environmental perspectives covering diverse subjects and varying levels of practical application.

This program incorporates hands-on learning experiences through its capstone course and fieldwork component, while promoting international engagement via study abroad programs or overseas internships. With abundant global study options and continuous exposure to a wide array of extracurricular activities, students can create numerous academic pathways. Graduates leave with a robust scholarly grounding in environmental sciences and connections to a diverse network of interdisciplinary collaborators tackling complex challenges.
