The Master of Science in Education (M.S.Ed.) with a focus on Student Affairs Administration (SAA) in Higher Education prepares graduates for roles in student or academic services at colleges and universities. This graduate program bridges theoretical knowledge with practical application, prioritizing student growth, learning, and inclusive approaches. It serves as a pathway for both entering and progressing in diverse student affairs careers. The curriculum, shaped by tenure-track faculty and active student affairs practitioners, ensures relevant, skill-focused training. Specialization options encompass various fields such as: admissions, academic/career counseling, financial assistance, first-year programs, global education, diversity services, housing, equity centers, academic support, campus activities, and other student service domains.
Two program formats are offered:
Hybrid on-campus
Online (asynchronous annually, hybrid when enrollment justifies)
The hybrid on-campus track caters primarily to students seeking full-time coursework alongside part-time practical experience. The online version blends experienced higher education professionals with newcomers who can obtain fieldwork at affiliated institutions. Admission is selective, adhering to CAS Standards for graduate-level student affairs programs. Participants must maintain at least half-time employment in academic or student services throughout enrollment.
A bachelor’s or higher degree from UWL or another approved institution where English is the sole language of instruction.
Degree must be earned within two years of expected enrollment in this UWL graduate program.
Applicant must have attended the institution for a minimum of two years.
Applicants for graduate study who are not native speakers of English must meet one of the following for admission:
