The LeBron James Family Foundation School of Education provides a 30-credit master's program in Educational Administration and Leadership. With guidance from an advisor and Graduate School approval, students can waive or substitute courses to tailor their studies to specific educational pathways that align with their professional objectives.
This master's program aligns with the Educational Leadership Constituents Council (ELCC) standards, incorporating key assessments throughout the curriculum to ensure students meet these benchmarks.
Those pursuing Ohio Principal Licensure must complete the Educational Administration & Leadership Program before applying for state certification.
To earn a principal license through the LeBron James Family Foundation School of Education, candidates must complete 30 post-baccalaureate credits, obtain a master's degree, finish a two-semester supervised internship in their desired licensure area, and pass the state licensing exam.
To be considered for acceptance to one of the graduate programs in the at The University of Akron, the following admission criteria are examined:
A preferred minimum of 3.0 GPA, on a 4.0 scale, from an accredited undergraduate program.
For those that have lower than a 3.0 GPA, individual consideration may be made based upon the GMAT, GRE, or equivalent scores.
For those that have a 3.0 GPA or higher, but lack three years of work experience, a GMAT score of 500 or higher is preferred to indicate potential success in the graduate program.
Admittance without a GMAT test requirement may be granted to those holding a graduate degree from an accredited university or those with three or more years of professional work experience beyond the earned bachelor’s degree.
Applicants holding a degree from outside the United States and with an academic standing of first or high second class, satisfactory evidence of competence in English (i.e., TOEFL score of 79 or above or IELTS score of 6.5 or above) is required.
