Get ready for a healthcare profession, explore global organisms, or contribute to disease research. Discover these possibilities and beyond through biology studies. At UW-La Crosse, you'll encounter numerous research chances collaborating with faculty in a department renowned statewide for teaching excellence. The UWL Biology Department offers both undergraduate and graduate programs in biological sciences, featuring cutting-edge equipment and facilities for coursework and investigations. Students can engage in research across diverse biological fields, with many undergraduates conducting independent studies under faculty guidance. Academic courses and research projects leverage our local natural resources—the Mississippi River and La Crosse River Marsh.
UWL's general education program (Gen Ed) forms the foundational learning experience for all undergraduates. Sample degree outlines incorporate Gen Ed requirements to guarantee fulfillment of these core educational standards. Course sequencing can be adjusted based on individual academic needs or program recommendations. Students may complete Gen Ed courses during winter intersession (January) or summer to lighten their regular semester workload (fall/spring). For personalized academic planning, students should consult their advisor or their college's academic services director.
