Get ready for a healthcare profession, explore global organisms, or contribute to disease research. Discover these possibilities and beyond through biology studies. UW-La Crosse offers extensive research collaborations with faculty in a department renowned statewide for teaching excellence. The UWL Biology Department provides programs for both undergraduate and graduate students in biological sciences, featuring cutting-edge equipment and facilities for coursework and investigations. Students can engage in research across diverse biological fields, with many undergraduates conducting independent studies under faculty guidance. The curriculum leverages our local natural resources, including the Mississippi River and La Crosse River Marsh. UWL's general education program (Gen Ed) forms the foundational academic experience for all undergraduates. Sample degree outlines incorporate Gen Ed components to guarantee fulfillment of these requirements. Course sequencing can be adjusted based on individual academic plans. Winter and summer terms offer opportunities to complete Gen Ed courses, easing the workload during fall and spring semesters. For personalized academic planning, students should consult their advisor or college academic services director. Additional Gen Ed details are available in the official requirements.
