Geographers explore the connections between human societies and their surroundings.
For those interested in developing abilities to tackle urgent environmental and social challenges like climate change, disaster response, demographic shifts, and global interconnectedness, geography could be an ideal discipline.
Participants in UW-La Crosse's Geography Program acquire hands-on experience utilizing cutting-edge technology to address environmental issues. They utilize industry-standard Geographic Information System (GIS) software, unmanned aerial vehicles, and advanced field instrumentation. Collaborative efforts between students and faculty examine historical and contemporary environmental and social circumstances while formulating approaches for creating a more adaptable and sustainable tomorrow. The program has enabled students to engage with nearby communities and travel globally—from analyzing pollution in regional wetlands to assessing climate effects in the Himalayas.
