The Secondary Teacher Education Program (STEP) is a rigorous one-year Master's in Teaching degree that provides certification for secondary education in subjects like mathematics, sciences, social studies, English, or world languages. Our program equips graduates to empower and guide diverse middle and high school students through an educational justice framework.
STEP offers personalized mentorship and substantial hands-on classroom experience. This collaborative program commences in spring quarter and culminates with immersive student teaching during late winter, perfectly timed with school hiring cycles. Many participants secure substitute teaching positions in spring or pursue supplementary certifications in ELL instruction and Computer Science Education.
