The Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (MSME) program is designed for individuals holding bachelor's degrees in mechanical engineering or similar disciplines like aerospace engineering. Applicants should have completed foundational coursework in areas including fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, material mechanics, mechanical systems dynamics, systems evaluation, machine design, production processes, and engineering design. This program prepares graduates for professional mechanical engineering roles, requiring comprehensive knowledge spanning both undergraduate and graduate-level mechanical engineering curricula. Physics graduates seeking the MSME must fulfill all prerequisite undergraduate courses for both the bachelor's and master's degrees in mechanical engineering.

Qualification Requirements
The Department of Mechanical Engineering requires an overall undergraduate cumulative GPA of at least 3.3 for M.S. applicants. Ph.D. applicants are required to have an M.S. cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better.
