The non-thesis track mandates 30 semester hours of graduate coursework, comprising 15 credits in ME, 6 math credits (with a minimum of 3 from the math department), and 9 credits that may be taken inside or outside ME. A maximum of 6 credits can be earned through independent projects (ME 597). These projects may be supervised by either the Advisory Committee Chair (Major Professor) or any faculty member, including committee members. The non-thesis path offers a more structured timeline for finishing coursework, enabling students to better estimate their graduation date. Typically, distance education students pursuing a Master's degree will follow this non-thesis option.
